HOW TO CLOSE A TNB ACCOUNT NAME

TNB METER APPLICATION – APPROVAL FIRST, PAYMENT LATER

To close a TNB account, you need to submit a request to TNB, settle any outstanding bills, and TNB will perform a final meter reading. If there is a remaining deposit, it will be refunded to you after deducting the final bill.

Below are the steps:

Apply for Account Closure:
Submit a request to close your TNB account. You can do this at a TNB counter, online, or via the TNB mobile application (if available).

Settle Outstanding Bills:
Ensure that all outstanding TNB bills are fully paid.

Final Meter Reading:
TNB will conduct a final meter reading on the requested termination date.

Deposit Refund:
If you have a deposit, TNB will refund the remaining balance (after deducting the final bill) to the bank account you have registered.

Submit Documents:
You may need to prepare documents such as the original deposit receipt, a copy of your identity card, and the account closure application form.

Account Closure Form:
You may be required to fill in an account closure form, which can be obtained from TNB.

If you want to close a TNB account, this process is usually called “Termination of Supply” or “Closing of Account”.
There are 3 easy ways:

1.Via MyTNB Portal

Log in to the MyTNB Portal.
Select the account you want to close.
Click “Request” → “Terminate Supply”.
Fill in details such as the termination date & bank account number (for deposit refund).
Submit the request.

2. Using the MyTNB Mobile App or https://www.mytnb.com.my/

Log in to the MyTNB app.
Go to the “Request” or “Services” menu.
Select “Terminate Account”.
Complete the details and submit.

3. Visit a TNB Kedai Tenaga

Bring the following documents:

• IC (account holder)

• Latest electricity bill

• Copy of bank account details (for deposit refund)
  

💡 Important Notes:

• The deposit will be refunded after the final meter reading is completed and the final bill is settled.

• The process usually takes 7–14 working days.

• If a house or office will be registered under a new owner, the existing account must be closed first by the current account holder.
