HOW TO APPLY FOR A NEW TNB METER AND PAYMENT CHARGES 2025 – ACROSS MALAYSIA
Make sure your application is under the correct category.
Existing Meter Application / Existing — This applies to premises that still have the black TNB cable and previously had a meter installed. For this type of application, no CSP payment is required, and it does not need to go through a contractor if the house has not been left vacant for more than 5 years.
HOUSE PURCHASED OR RENTED WITHOUT A METER?
HOUSE PREVIOUSLY HAD A METER BUT IT WAS REMOVED?
This issue commonly occurs for users who have just rented or purchased a house, including subsale houses, auction houses, or new houses. This happens because the previous owner or tenant closed the TNB account and reclaimed the deposit.
If the meter is still present, an application to change the meter name must be made.
There are 3 WAYS to get a TNB meter connected
1. Applicants may go directly to any TNB KEDAI TENAGA nationwide, whether near or far, to make a MOVE-IN application. A representative is allowed, provided an authorization letter is prepared.
2. Applicants may apply online by submitting via

Reminder: Online applications can only be made if the account record still exists in the TNB system or if the meter was last disconnected less than 5 years ago. If there is no record or it has been more than 5 years, the application must be processed through a contractor.
Online applications are not applicable for new houses or premises that have never had a meter before. For new applications, it is mandatory to go through a contractor. You may contact BANI VENTURE.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A TNB ELECTRICITY METER ONLINE USING MYTNB – EASY, SIMPLE, AND FAST
Step 1: Visit the MYTNB Portal at https://www.mytnb.com.my/.
If you have never registered before, you need to register first. If you already have an account, you may log in directly to MyTNB.
Step 2:
If you have never registered before, you need to register first by filling in the required details as usual.
Step 3:
Select INDIVIDUAL. Make sure you do not choose the wrong category at the beginning.
Step 4:
Under the APPLY section, select I AM MOVING IN – Get me started! if you want to apply for a meter.
Step 5:
Enter your address according to the correct format. You may refer to the address on the old electricity bill. If the address does not appear in MyTNB, simply type it in and click the “Next” button. It will then bring you to the address confirmation section. Once completed, click NEXT.
Step 6:
Under the “I’m applying as” section, choose whether you are applying as an Individual or a Company.
Individual: using your personal name
Company: using a company name (SSM required)
A shop does not necessarily need to use SSM. Once completed, click NEXT.
Step 7:
Before you proceed, make sure all required documents are ready. Use PDF format or clear photos, and ensure each file does not exceed 2MB. Once ready, click NEXT.
Step 8:
Under the “Do you need a Contractor?” section, if your house has been left vacant for more than 5 years or if there is any doubt about the wiring condition, appoint a contractor to inspect your electrical wiring. Note that contractor charges will apply.
If the wiring is still safe, click “NO” and then “NEXT.”
Step 9:
Select the date when you want the electricity supply to start. Usually, TNB provides a date within 7 days from registration. In many cases, TNB works quickly—applications submitted today may be completed the next day, depending on the area. Public holidays cannot be selected.
Step 10:
In the Electricity Supply Detail section, fill in the details as usual.
Under Additional Contact, you may add a contact person who can be reached if you are unavailable.
Once completed, click SAVE AND PROCEED.
Step 11:
In Section 2: “Customer Details”, you need to download the APPLICATION FORM and upload the required documents as listed below. Use PDF or JPG (image) format, and ensure each file does not exceed 2MB. Read the Terms & Conditions, tick the checkbox, and click the “SUBMIT” button.
Step 12:
Submission Complete. Save the reference number for future reference.
FINALLY: If APPROVED, TNB will send you an email with the charges, or you may check the status in the MyTNB Application or MyTNB Portal. You can make payment directly using FPX Online.

Once payment is completed, TNB will install the meter within 7 working days.
If there are any issues, TNB will send an email and you will need to rectify the required matters.

ii. Stamp duty RM 10
iii. TNB charge RM 3

2.Contractor management charges (if contractor services are used)

Only the contractor’s charges need to be paid directly to the contractor after approval. Our company is a registered electrical contractor under the Energy Commission (ST), CIDB, and TNB.
Note: The prices below are for existing premises that previously had a meter or where the black TNB cable is still available. Contractor management charges are not included.

or Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Company Name (Form 13) and Managing Director / Company Directors (Form 49); or certificate of registration for associations, cooperatives, or law firms
