PERMOHONAN METER TNB – LULUS DULU BARU BAYAR - KONTRAKTOR ELEKTRIK BERDAFTAR - 0139214322

METER APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Before submitting an application, the house/premises must be fully completed or at least 90% completed and safe. Do not apply for a permanent meter if construction has not yet started. For construction purposes, a temporary meter application is required.

  2. Must comply with TNB meter installation specifications, with completed wiring, DB, and meter board installed according to TNB-specified standards.

  3. Must not be located in a low-voltage area. In some areas, TNB may be unable to provide supply due to insufficient available capacity.

  4. Must have planning approval / local council licence / assessment tax for commercial applications in certain areas.

Make sure your application is under the correct category.
Group Supply Application / Group Electricity Supply Application is a new application for premises that have never had a meter or do not have any TNB cable. If the premises previously had a meter, you must apply under Existing / Existing Meter Application.

A Group Supply / Group Electricity Supply Application is mandatory to be processed through a contractor or developer. This means only a contractor can submit the application, and it cannot be done by the applicant individually.

For Group Supply new applications, there are 2 cost components that you need to pay

  • Payment to TNB
    i. Deposit / Security deposit
    ii. Consumer Connection Charge (CSP)
    iii. Stamp duty
(you may refer to the TNB price table that I have prepared according to house type)

  • Contractor management charges

TNB Group Supply Meter Application Process
  • Appoint a TNB-registered electrical contractor (Registered Electrical Contractor – REC)

  • The contractor will submit the application through the myTNB for Contractors system under the “Group Application” category

  • TNB will review the documents and technical requirements

  • TNB will issue a quotation for connection costs (infrastructure + deposit for each account)

  • The applicant / developer makes the payment

  • Installation of infrastructure (poles, cables, substation if required)

  • Installation of meters for each unit/location

  • Electricity supply is activated / Enjoy your power supply safely

Group Application – The application must be submitted under estimated, where a TNB officer is required to visit the site first before approval is granted to the applicant. The processing time may be longer than an express application.

Meter Installation Duration for Group Applications

  • Depends on the project scale and infrastructure requirements.

  • Minimum 4–8 weeks for small projects.

  • Large projects involving a new substation may take 3–6 months.

This also depends on the location. Sometimes it is faster, sometimes slower, depending on demand.

  • The Consumer Connection Charge (CSP) must be paid to TNB after the application is approved. The charges imposed depend on the scope of installation, whether it is an overhead line (from pole to meter board) or an underground line. For overhead lines, the pole cost is free and no additional pole charges are imposed by TNB. Applications for overhead and underground cables are priced differently.

  • Domestic / Residential

    1 Phase

    New – RM 450 (Overhead)
    RM 1,700 (Underground)

  • Domestic 3 Phase

New and upgrade – RM 750 (Overhead)
    RM 1,700 (Underground)

  • Commercial 1 Phase

    New – RM 450

  • Commercial 3 Phase

New and upgrade – RM 1,700

  • The meter security deposit must also be paid to TNB after the electricity connection is completed by TNB. The deposit amount depends on the type of premises, whether it uses a 1-phase or 3-phase meter. For commercial premises, the deposit depends on the maximum demand requirement. The deposit is refundable if the user closes the account.

  • Stamp duty RM10 — this usually indicates that the stamped document falls under a fixed-rate category (not based on cash value such as a property sale and purchase).

TNB METER PAYMENT RATES – GROUP APPLICATION

TNB payment rates can be referred to in the table below. Payments to TNB can be made directly to TNB without going through the contractor. Only the contractor’s charges need to be paid directly to the contractor after approval. Our company is a registered electrical contractor under the Energy Commission (ST), CIDB, and TNB.

Note: The prices below are for new premises that have never had a meter. Contractor management charges are not included.

The consumer connection charge for underground supply is RM 1,700, and the rate is the same for 1 phase and 3 phase.

Additional Pole Charges for TNB Applications
At present, poles are provided free of charge, even if multiple poles are required, as long as they are necessary for the meter application. The poles are the property of TNB, not individuals. TNB reserves the right to install poles if required, and not to install them if they are not necessary.

  • Stamp Duty: RM 10

  • CSP: RM 450

APPLY FOR TNB METER
TNB Meter Applications are divided into two categories:

  • Domestic (residential

  • Commercial (business)

When the term “TNB group application” is mentioned, in TNB terminology it usually refers to a Group Electricity Supply Application (Group Supply Application). TNB has stipulated that if more than one unit is involved, a group application must be submitted.

This type of application is used when multiple units / lots / houses apply for an electricity supply connection within the same project or area.

Examples:

  • A housing developer applying for electricity supply for all houses at once

  • A landowner of kampung lots applying for supply for several houses under one layout plan

  • A commercial site with multiple shop lots

As commonly known, the process may take slightly longer, because a group application is not the same as a single-unit (express) application. Group applications are processed collectively, such as for housing estates or residential developments. This allows TNB to better plan cable sizing, pole layout, and supply capacity.

Procedure for Applying TNB Group Electricity Supply (Group Supply)

💡Tips

  • For small projects (e.g. 3–5 kampung houses), the connection cost is shared among all applicants.

  • For large housing projects, the infrastructure cost is usually borne by the developer.

  • It is best to ensure all documents are complete from the beginning to avoid delays.
